Mimi Soya

Mimi Soya have been writing catchy pop-punk songs since the summer of 2006, and quickly became one of the more noticeable acts to emerge from Brighton in the UK. Their first single “Crazy” sparked interest in the band, delivering strong riff-driven guitar hooks and infectious vocal melodies. They became known for putting on an intensely fun live show in an area that was more renowned for producing hard-edged metal or nu-rave bands.

The original lineup changed in 2007 to feature new vocalist Hero Olivia on the microphone. Their sound is a mix of Paramore and The Academy Is, bringing really catchy melodies (you will find yourself humming “Deathwish” hours after hearing it) and guitarist Chris Nairn providing backing vocals to Hero on a few tracks. The band has since signed to Lab Records in the UK and is planning a brief fall UK tour, no US dates planned yet. Sorry, Yanks, keep your fingers crossed.

Definitely one for fans of the Fueled By Ramen bands here in the US, Mimi Soya is poised to break through in a huge way in their native UK.
